Purple Heart City
In November 2014, Clarkson paid tribute to our veterans by becoming the 53rd Purple Heart City in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. This designation honors and recognizes the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women who have fought for our community and country, including those who have been awarded the Purple Heart Medal for their bravery.
Bee City USA
Clarkson recently became a Bee City USA, and is working to help raise awareness of the importance bees and pollinators make to our community. With our city home to the Kelley Beekeeping Company, one of the largest manufacturers of beekeeping supplies in the country, the health and well-being of bees is vital to Clarkson’s economy and future.
Grayson County Historical Society
The City of Clarkson is a proud supporter and member of the Grayson County Historical Society, headquartered at the Jack Thomas House in Leitchfield (the oldest brick home in the county). The Jack Thomas House includes a research library and museum which features numerous documents, photos, and other artifacts from the county’s history, including many items pertaining to Clarkson.
Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador
The City of Clarkson has partnered with NOAA to become a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador. This designation will allow us to use some of their resources to help educate and prepare people for extreme weather events that impact our area.
